  • Regional Race Series Ranking Formula

    General Guidelines

  • G1.  Only races that have opted into the USA SUP Races BEFORE the race date are counted in the rankings for that year.
  • G2.  Only SUP races count towards ranking points.
  • G3.  Only USA SUP members who have an active membership on the DAY OF THE RACE will receive ranking points for that race. You have the whole day of the race to check that your membership status is active or to join as a member. Once the race date has passed, your points for that race will not be counted.
  • G4.  Within a single event, up to three races may be counted toward USA SUP Ranking points. Three races are not required, two or less races will also count towards ranking points.
  • G5.  Rankings will be calculated for your position in the SUP distance race that you registered for in the male or female category. Age classes are not counted or calculated separately.
  • G6.  Races are ordered by LENGTH of race into A, B, & C categories:

Once this race order is established, your data will go through the following filter.

Initial Filter
    Step 1 -  Is the race a part of the Regional Race Series? (G1)
    Yes -> Go to Step 2.
    No -> Stop.
      Step 2 -  Are you racing on a SUP craft that is in one of the length categories allowed by the race? (G2)
      Yes -> Go to Step 3.
      No -> Stop.
        Step 3 -  Were you an active member of USA SUP on the date of the race? (G3)
        Yes -> Go to Step 4.
        No -> Stop.
          Step 4 -  Did you finish the race within any published time frame (if applicable) set by the race/ race officials?
          Yes -> Go to Step 5.
          No -> Stop. (this applies to DNS, DNF, DQ)

          Step 5 -  What is your finish position in the SUP distance race you registered for, based on this chart?

          Race Points Assigned

          Based on your finishing position (in the SUP distance race you registered for) in the female or male category, you are assigned Race Points.

          Race Multiplier
          The Race Points are multiplied by a race multiplier based on the number of people you directly raced against, within your registered race and gender.
          For example, your 10K race (A Race) had 24 females. The Race Multiplier would be 0.7.

          USA SUP Regional Race Series Ranking Formula
          Your Finishing Position is based on the race your registered for and the gender category you are in.

          Your Finishing Position = Your Race Points

          Your Rate Points x Race Multiplier = Your USA SUP RRS Ranking
