USA Surfing's ISA Team Trials SUP Race & Surf

USA Surfing Championships 2022

This the USA National Championships for SUP Surfing, SUP Racing, and Prone Paddleboarding, as well as the Team USA Trials for the ISA World SUP & Paddleboard Championship Team. (ISA Worlds will be a qualifying event for the Pan Am Games). New to this years event is the 4-Mile Age Group National Championship Race. Races are only open to US Citizens. The 4-Mile Age Group race is open to all. All races are in the open ocean. National Champions to be crowned!


June 16, Thursday:

  • SUP & Prone Distance Races (ISA qualifier*) 8-10miles

June 17, Friday :

June 18, Saturday:

  • Technical Prone & SUP Races (ISA qualifier* ) &
  • SUP 4-Mile Age Group Championship Race

- Technical Prone & Technical Sup Races will be beach start and finish, with multiple laps in and out of the surf. Junior Men's SUP will race with Men's Sup, and Junior Women's SUP will race with Women's SUP.

 - 4mile Age Group Race will start outside of the surf line (water start), and finish on the beach (through the waves). If conditions are hazardous, and alternative finish route may be implemented on race day. 

*Races are only open to US Citizens.

Trophies will be awarded to the Top 3 finishers in all racing categories. 

ISA Qualification:

For the Men's & Women's SUP Distance Races, SUP Technical Races and SUP Surfing (Open Divisions), the top 2 finishers in each event will qualify for the US National Team for ISA World Championships. For Junior Men SUP, Junior Women SUP, and all Prone divisions the 1st place finisher will qualify for the US National Team for the ISA World Championships. Qualification for the Men's & Women's SUP 200 Meter ISA Sprint Race (1 Man, 1 Woman) will be selected from within the group of athletes who qualify in any of the above mentioned divisions at a date closer to the ISA World Championships in Puerto Rico. 

Pan-American Games Qualification:

This years ISA World Championships in Puerto Rico are a qualifier for the 2023 Pan-American Games. As such, the top placing athlete from the "Americas" in each SUP Surfing & SUP Tech Racing (Men's & Women's) at 2022 ISA World Championships, will be awarded a qualification spot to represent their country at the 2023 Pan-American Games in Santiago, Chile.
